Simply put, City/Inspired is a collaboration of nine of Pittsburgh's most unique and diverse festivals. Funded by a grant from the Pennsylvania Tourism Office, the festivals came together with the Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council and Visit Pittsburgh in the conference room of the Arts Council to spend hours meeting, brainstorming and planning. Out of our efforts, City/Inspired was born. We believe the numbers say it all: Nine Festivals. One Pittsburgh. Infinite Possibilities.
What's more? These are not your average festivals. The Wall Street Journal lauded Silk Screen Film Festival for "featuring countries passed over for Cannes competition." Black Sheep Puppet Festival is the longest running yearly puppet festival in the country. The list goes on – each of these festivals offers something you won't find anywhere else. And why would you want to find them anywhere else? Pittsburgh is the city on everyone's radar these days. The New York Times calls us "hip" and a "gleaming cultural oasis." USA Today notes that Pittsburgh has "more in the way of diversions than many cities twice its size." Even on the other side of the world, The Sydney Morning Herald writes, "Thousands of Warhol artworks are only a sample of what's to be seen in Steel City."
We've done the legwork for you. For each festival we've crafted a great itinerary of unique Pittsburgh experiences. Like strawberries to champagne, these experiences are designed to enhance the flavor of your festival. But whether you follow our itineraries or create your own, just come to be inspired.
